LAS VEGAS – American University's top wrestlers get a fall-semester preview of possible national matchups this Friday and Saturday when they make their annual trip to the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Wrestling Invitational.
Thirty teams take to the mat on Friday morning at the Las Vegas Convention Center to participate in one of the most prestigious national events on the schedule.
Eleven of the 30 teams are ranked in the most recent tournament team rankings by Intermat.com. They're topped by Ohio State and Virginia Tech, which are tied for fourth nationally.
The Eagles come into the tournament off a strong performance at the Wolfpack Open two weeks ago. Sophomore
Josh Terao won the 125-pound weight class in Raleigh and was one of eight placers for AU in the tournament.
Terao comes into this weekend with a 6-0 record that includes one by fall, one by technical fall and two major decisions.
