Box Score WASHINGTON — Liam Robley paced American University with four points and the men's soccer team raced to a quick lead en route to a 6-0 victory over local foe Howard on Thursday afternoon at Reeves Field.
Robley's four points came on a goal and a pair of assists, as the hosts netted all six markers before the 31-minute mark.
The Cumbria, England, native gave the Eagles a 1-0 lead on a penalty kick in the opening minute of play. It didn't take long for the Eagles to add their second goal in the eighth minute on a through ball by
Dale Ludwig over to
Joel Hart.
In the 16th minute, Michael Cherry potted his own rebound to take a 3-0 advantage. In a half in that saw the Eagles outshot the Bison, 13-3, the hosts added three more goals in a six-minute span.
Vinny Barone, Panos Nakhid and
Chris Fanet also found the back of the net to give the Eagles a six-goal advantage at the break. American held a 13-3 edge in shots after 45 minutes.
Dylan Hobert made two saves and was replaced by
Lucas Belanger.
The Eagles finished the contest with a 15-6 advantage in shots. Belanger made one save in 35 minutes and Howard secured five shots for his squad.
The game was called with 9:57 remaining in the second half after lightning was detected in the area.
American will remain at home to host Penn on Sunday at 3 p.m.
