LEWISBURG, Pa. – Hitting .375 for the match, the American University volleyball team earned a 3-0 road victory over Bucknell on Saturday.

The Eagles posted set scores of 25-14, 25-15, 25-22 to improve to 10-5 overall and 2-0 in the Patriot League. Meanwhile, the Bison fell to 7-6 overall and 1-1 in the league.

Senior Allison Cappellino finished with a match-high 13 kills, while classmate Kristyna Lindovska added 10 kills and four blocks. Additionally, senior Sarah Katz tallied nine kills and a season-high 18 digs.

The Eagles led throughout the first set to cruise to an 11-point victory, but the Bison came back strong in the second set, keeping it close early. After Bucknell tied the score at 9-9, American went on an 11-4 run to pull away for another double-digit win.

In the third set, AU scored the first five points and went on to take a 10-5 lead. However, the Bison answered with six straight points to move ahead. Bucknell's lead was short-lived, as the Eagles regained control and held off a late Bison rally.

"Now in league play, we are able to focus on one match at a time," said Katz. "I think we came into this match with the mindset of controlling the game with defense and building off our win yesterday. We also hit well at the net against a strong blocking team.

"Overall, it was a great weekend with two wins on the road."

The Eagles return home for a pair of games next weekend, hosting Army West Point on Friday evening, while facing Holy Cross on Saturday afternoon.
