WASHINGTON – After being selected the Columbia Invitational tournament MVP, senior outside hitter Allison Cappellino has been chosen as the GEICO AU Student-Athlete of the Week.

Cappellino helped lead the Eagles to the tournament title at the Columbia Invitational, as American swept Northeastern, NJIT and the host Lions.

Cappellino finished with a team-leading 10 kills against Northeastern, while tallying 12 kills and a team-best 15 digs versus Columbia. For the weekend, she averaged 3.0 kills and 2.88 digs per set.

The Eagles return home this weekend, Sept. 18-19, as they host William & Mary, UMBC and Virginia in the AU Volleyball Classic.
