Junior midfielder Dale Ludwig, who helped lead the American University men's soccer team to the championship of the Kuykenstrong D.C. College Cup, has been selected as the first winner of the GEICO AU Student-Athlete of the Week Award of 2015-16.
Ludwig was the MVP of the tournament and was picked to the All-Tournament Team after the Eagles beat George Washington, 2-1, and host George Mason, 3-1.
He had an assist in the win over the Colonials, and scored AU's first in a three-goal onslaught before halftime that sparked the triumph over the Patriots.
The weekly award is the second of Ludwig's career at American.
The Eagles host Howard on Thursday at 3 p.m. and also play at Reeves Field on Sunday at 3 p.m. against Penn.
