Box Score FAIRFAX, Va. – American University's men's soccer team heads to George Mason on Sunday evening for the finals of the Kuykenstrong D.C. College Cup, starting at 7:30 p.m.
The Eagles won their opener in the tournament on Friday, topping George Washington, 2-1.
Joe Iraola scored in the 71st minute to erase a 1-1 halftime tie and lift AU to the win.
Kibu Mbaluku had the other tally for the Eagles.
The Eagles controlled the offensive play, finishing with a 15-5 edge in shots.
American will attempt to wrest the Kuykenstrong D.C. College Cup from the Patriots, who have won the last two.
Mason beat Howard on Friday, 5-1, in the other first-round matchup. The Patriots scored four goals on 17 shots in the second half alone. Edgar Zepeda had a pair of goals to lead the Mason offense.
American opens its home schedule on Thursday against Howard at 3 p.m.
