WASHINGTON – Men's basketball senior John Schoof had a prolific scoring week for the Eagles and was honored on Monday, earning the GEICO AU Student-Athlete of the Week and the Lids Team Sports Patriot League Player of the Week Awards.

Schoof averaged 22 points over two games, setting season-highs in scoring in both Patriot League contests.

The second-year captain and fourth-year Eagle netted 21 in a near come-from-behind win at Lehigh and followed the performance with a new season-high 23 at home against Lafayette. Versus the Leopards, Schoof helped AU to a new team season-high in points scored, registering 88, as American improved to 7-1 in home games inside Bender Arena.

Schoof recently became the 30th men's basketball player to join AU's 1,000-point club and joined another prestigious list at American this past Wednesday. With his first 3-pointer of the game at Lehigh, Schoof became just the fourth Eagle to score 200 career triples and now ranks fourth all-time on the list.

Schoof shot over 56 percent both from the field and beyond the arc over the two games, making 16-of-27 shots and 9-of-16 3-pointers.

It is Schoof's third career Lids Team Sports Patriot League Player of the Week award and GEICO AU award, earning the distinction in each of his past three seasons.
