WASHINGTON – After leading the American University women's basketball team to its first two wins of the season, freshman guard Kaitlyn Lewis has been selected as the GEICO AU Student-Athlete of the Week. Lewis was also chosen as the Lids Team Sports Patriot League Rookie of the Week.

Against Dartmouth on Thursday, Lewis broke out for a personal-best 14 points to lead the Eagles to a 45-41 victory, their first win of the season. The Scranton, Pa., native shot 6-of-9 from the field against the Big Green, including 2-of-3 from beyond the arc.

Lewis also finished with seven points in AU's 52-48 win over Manhattan on Sunday evening, while dishing out a team-leading four assists.

For the week, Lewis averaged a team-best 10.5 points per contest, along with 3.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.

American plays its final non-conference contest of the season tomorrow, Dec. 22, with a 2 p.m. game at Pittsburgh.
