WASHINGTON – After leading American to its 13th Patriot League Tournament title, senior outside hitter Allison Cappellino has been selected as the GEICO AU Student-Athlete of the Week.

The Eagles scored a pair of 3-0 victories over Colgate and Army West Point in the Patriot League Tournament to claim the league championship and improve to 18-0 against PL competition this season.

Cappellino was chosen as the PL Tournament MVP, recording 30 kills and 13 digs in the two matches. She recorded 13 kills and nine digs in AU's semifinal win over the Raiders, while scoring a team-leading 17 kills against the Black Knights.

The Eagles, who earned the Patriot League's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, await the announcement of their first-round opponent. The tournament begins Dec. 4-5 at selected campus sites.
