Box Score WASHINGTON — The American University men's soccer team hits the pitch for a Patriot League match against Loyola Maryland on Wednesday evening in Baltimore. The Eagles will then welcome Lafayette to Reeves Field on Saturday afternoon.
The Eagles are looking for their first PL win of the season after falling to Boston University last Saturday, 1-0, at Reeves Field on Senior Day.
AU (6-4-1, 0-2-0 PL) has one win in its last six matches. Loyola is 1-6-2 and also winless in the Patriot League. The Greyhounds' lone win happened on Sept. 12, a 1-0 victory over then-No. 11 UMBC.
Liam Robley is second in the NCAA in assists with eight, two behind Joey Piatczyc of West Virginia. Robley's 14 points lead the way for the Eagles. Joel Hart's four goals pace the team and Dylan Hobert has posted a 1.10 goals against average.
Loyola has two goals through nine games with Brennan Goldsmith and Brad Warenicz tied for the team lead with one each. Matt Sanchez has played in eight of the nine games in goal and posts a 1.30 goals against average.
Lafayette secured a win over Army West Point to open the PL season on Sept. 26, defeating the Black Knights, 1-0. In their last match at Loyola Maryland, the Leopards played to a scoreless tie with the Greyhounds.
Ryan Egan is the only Leopard to score more than one goal this season, tallying two. Seven other players have found the back of the net. Ben Marks is tied with Egan for the team's lead in points with five. Coming off a PL Keeper of the Week award, Brad Seeber's 0.45 goals against average ranks him eighth in the NCAA, but fourth in team GAA.
Next week, AU will travel to non-conference rival and reigning NCAA Champion Virginia on Tuesday and then head over to Army West Point on Saturday.
