Box Score WASHINGTON – Hitting a season-high .386, the American University volleyball team rolled to a 25-9, 25-9, 25-14 victory over Holy Cross Saturday afternoon at Bender Arena.
With the win, the Eagles improved to 12-5 overall and 4-0 in the Patriot League, while the Crusaders dropped to 3-12 overall and 0-3 in the league.
Senior Kristyna Lindovska registered a match-high eight kills, while classmate Allison Cappellino added seven kills and a match-high 11 digs in just two sets.
The Eagles also saw strong production from its reserves, including freshmen Aleksandra Kazala and Carmen Unzue, who each saw action in the third set. Kazala recorded three kills, four digs and three service aces, while Unzue registered two kills on three attempts and came up with three blocks.
The Eagles never trailed against the Crusaders and used long scoring runs in each set to distance themselves.
"We had a pretty good match here today in terms of executing, service and passing, attacking and blocking, defense," said American head coach Barry Goldberg. "It was a good overall team effort."
The Eagles are back in action on Tuesday, Oct. 6, when they visit Navy in a 7 p.m. contest.
