American University volleyball player Sarah Katz has been selected as the GEICO AU Student-Athlete of the Week for her play in the Eagles' opening weekend of Patriot League action. 

Katz, a junior outside hitter from Louisville, Ky., recorded a team-leading 12 kills in American's 3-0 sweep of Bucknell on Friday, while registering 10 kills and a .526 attack percentage in AU's 3-0 win over Lafayette.

For her performance, Katz also earned honorable mention recognition from the Patriot League in its weekly award release. 

The Eagles, who have now won six straight matches, are back in action Wednesday as they host the University of Maryland Eastern Shore in a non-conference contest at 7 p.m.
