No. 20 Men's Soccer Blanks Bucknell, 1-0

Box Score

Lewisburg, Pa. – The nationally-ranked American University men's soccer team was back in action on Saturday afternoon and showed why they are No. 20 in the nation. A solid defensive effort by the Eagles secured their fourth clean sheet of the year as junior Liam Robley netted the gamewinner on a penalty kick in the 34th minute.

"Back to front, front to back, the team was outstanding today," said head coach Todd West. "Our defensive four along with midfielder Mark Plaisance played a terrific match."

The American defense held Bucknell to only six shots on goal and three corner kicks.

Those six attempts on net were all turned away by junior goalkeeper Dylan Hobert, who improved to 8-3-2 this season with his fourth shutout.

American registered 12 shots and put seven of them on net, but the biggest of the match came off the foot of Robley.

"Liam was great all around today. His addition to the lineup makes us more athletic in the center midfield and also lets Stephen Hauschild play up top where he has been huge," said West.

With the win, the Eagles evened their Patriot League record to 2-2-0.

American wraps its three-game road trip on Tuesday in a non-league match at Liberty. AU then returns to Reeves Field on Saturday with a showdown against Army at 1 p.m.
