American University volleyball student-athlete Julie Crum continued the Eagles'
streak of conference award winners, being named the Molten Patriot
League Player of the Week on Monday. Crum was also recognized as
the AU Student-Athlete of the Week Presented by GEICO, Department
of Athletics officials announced.
Crum, a native of Hacienda Heights, Calif., registered four
straight double-doubles during American's road trip to her
home state to help the Eagles finish 3-1 on the weekend. The senior
outside hitter opened the trip with 12 kills and 16 digs in 3-1 a
loss to UC Irvine, hitting .323 in the match. She continued to fill
the stat sheet for American, helping the Eagles bounce back from
its first loss of the year with a team-high 20 kills and 14 digs
and hitting .400 in a 3-2 win over Fresno State. Crum then led
American to a 3-2 come-from-behind win over Xavier on Sunday,
notching 12 kills and a team-best 20 digs while adding four blocks
and three assists. She closed out the weekend slate helping lead
the Eagles to its second straight comeback win in a 3-2 victory at
Cal State Fullerton, posting 15 kills and 17 digs in the match.
Crum finished the weekend averaging 3.11 kps and 3.53 dpg,
hitting .260 with eight assists, three aces and six blocks over the
four matches.
The senior is ranked ninth in the Patriot League with 2.89 kps
on the year and 3.48 dps. She is hitting .259 on the year and also
has 11 aces this season.
This is the second career Patriot League Player of the Week
honor for Crum and first this season.
Crum and the Eagles return to Bender Arena on Wednesday,
September 25 at 7 p.m. The match will be broadcast live on Eagles Vision
TV.
