American University cross country student-athlete Brendan Johnson has been named the M-F
Athletic Patriot League Male Rookie of the Week for the second
consecutive week, conference officials announced Monday. Johnson
was also honored as the AU Student-Athlete of the Week Presented by
GEICO by Department of Athletics officials.
Johnson placed 13th at the Navy Invitational in Annapolis, Md.
on Saturday afternoon. The Waldorf, Md. native registered a time of
25:02.62 and posted the top mark of all freshmen in the race.
Johnson tallied the second-best result of the day
for the Eagles to help the team to a third place finish in the team
standings.
The freshman has crossed the line as one of American's top
three finishers in each of the Eagles' three races this
season.
American is off for the next two weeks but returns to
competition on Saturday, October 5 for the Paul Short Invitational
in Bethlehem, Pa.
