Osborne tallied their first career goals to lift the
American University men's soccer team over St. Francis (N.Y.), 3-1,
on Friday night.
McDonald gave American (3-2-0) the early advantage in the 20th
minute, receiving a cross from Colin
Seigfreid and tapping it past goalkeeper Tyler
Clarhaut for the 1-0 lead. The Eagles made it 2-0 in the 43rd
minute with Osborne recording his first career tally from nearly 40
yards out as Chris
Kuramoto registered the assist.
The two teams traded opportunities to open the second half with
Daniel
Akinkoye and Seigfreid's attempts stopped by the
Terriers' defense.
St. Francis (N.Y.) (1-3-0) scored its lone goal of the game in
the 81st minute. Kevin Correa added his second of the season off a
missed clear by the Eagles to make it a one-goal game.
American was able to capitalize in the 89th minute. Seigfreid's
shot was initially saved by goalkeeper Wesley Woodley, but McDonald
buried it in the back of the net off the rebound for the 3-1
victory.
The Eagles outshot St. Francis (N.Y.) 14 to 10 in the game, with
American holding a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks. Billy
Knutsen had two saves as the starting goalkeeper.
American hosts Saint Peter's in its next match on Sunday,
September 9 at 3 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on Eagles Vision
