Former American University men's basketball student-athletes Troy Brewer '12 and Charles Hinkle '12 have both signed contracts to play professionally in Europe for the 2012-13 season. Brewer has reached an agreement with Szedak Szeged in the Hungary-A Division and Hinkle signed a one year contract with Istanbulspor in the Turkey-TB2L League.

"I'm going to start my pro career with Naturtek SZTE Szedeak Szeged located in Szeged, Hungary," said Brewer. "I am excited and can't wait to get there. I would like to contribute right away and help us to win as many games as possible for a really good season."

Brewer joins the top league in Hungary after finishing his career ranked ninth all-time at American for three-point field goals made (112) and 13th for three-point percentage (.384). The Gaithersburg, Md. native finished last season second on the team and ninth in the Patriot League with 11.9 ppg, sixth in three-point field goals made (2.0) and eighth in three-point field goal percentage (41.4).

"I'm really excited to embark on this journey," said Hinkle. "Becoming a professional basketball player is just a dream come true. It truly is amazing what hard work and sacrifice can do for a person and this opportunity to play overseas is the result of it."

Hinkle will play in the second highest league in Turkey for the 2012-13 season. The Los Alamitos, Calif. native was a First Team All-Patriot League and NABC Second Team All-District selection in 2011. He finished his career at American ranked sixth in free throw percentage (.828) and 10th in three-point percentage (.395). Hinkle ranked second in the Patriot League last season with 18.4 ppg, first in three-point field goals made (2.7), third in defensive rebounds (4.4), third in free throw percentage (83.8), sixth in rebounding (5.4), seventh in three-point field goal percentage (41.9) and 10th in steals (0.9).
