Lindovska, Crum Power Volleyball Past Colgate

The American University volleyball team extended its four-match unbeaten streak with a 3-1 win over Colgate on Friday night as the Eagles outhit the Raiders .336 to .120 in the match.

Kristyna Lindovska led the American attack, posting 15 kills with a .519 hitting percentage and also adding a team-best seven blocks. Juliana Crum notched 15 kills for the Eagles as well, hitting .375, and matching the team-high with eight digs. Kylann Scheidt paced the offense with 39 assists, tallying seven digs, while Morgan Hendrix registered seven blocks and Jessica Warner had eight digs to match team-highs.

American (19-9, 10-3) took an early 10-6 lead to open the match on a kill from Sara Rishell. The Raiders fought back within four, before the Eagles responded with three straight points for the 17-10 advantage. American continued to hold off the Colgate attack, picking up a 25-18 victory in the first set.

Colgate (14-13, 11-2) fought back in the second set, with the match featuring 12 ties and four lead changes before the Raiders used back-to-back tallies to take a 19-13 lead. The Eagles came back to tie it at 21 on a Colgate error and took a 24-23 lead off a kill from Crum. But the Raiders closed out the set with three consecutive points for the 26-24 win to tie the match at one set apiece.

The Eagles rolled to a 12-6 lead in the third, forcing Colgate to call a timeout to try and stop American's momentum. But the Eagles answered with a 9-0 run for a 24-10 lead. The Raiders posted five straight points but Rishell recorded set point for the 25-15 victory and 2-1 match advantage.

The fourth set was tied six times before American was able to post seven consecutive scores for a 20-12 lead. Colgate added two points to prevent the Eagles from ending the match before a Raiders' error gave the Eagles the 25-16 win.

Lindsay Young led Colgate with the double-double, posting 10 kills and 10 digs while Diane Seely and Michelle McCarthy registered 11 and 10 kills, respectively. Lexi Finger led the defensive effort with 13 digs with Kaylee Fifer notching 36 assists.

American returns to Bender Arena on Saturday, November 10 at 4 p.m. when it hosts Bucknell to close out the regular season. The match will be broadcast live on Eagles Vision TV.
