American University men's soccer junior Colin Seigfreid was named the Patriot League
Scholar-Athlete of the Year, conference officials announced
Tuesday. Additionally, American has also earned two Academic
All-Patriot League selections – Chris Kuramoto and Seigfreid –
matching the most in the conference for the third year in a
row.
Seigfreid, a Pittsburgh, Pa. native, earns American's
third Scholar-Athlete of the Year honor, joining Matt Makowski
'12, who received the honor in 2010 and 2011, and Adam Rosen,
who was named Scholar-Athlete in 2001. The junior has posted a 3.64
GPA as a Business Administration major and was named to the
Academic All-Patriot League Team for the second consecutive year.
He is a two-time Patriot League Academic Honor Roll selection and
earned Dean's List honors in the spring of 2010.
Seigfreid leads the Patriot League with 17 points on the year,
also registering a conference-best seven assists. He has set
career-highs in every category this season and is second on the
team and sixth in the Patriot League with five goals. Earlier
today, he was named to the All-Patriot League First Team and is
also a three-time Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week and
ECAC Offensive Player of the Week. He has tallied six goals and 14
assists in his career, making 53 appearances with 38 starts.
Kuramoto joins his classmate on the Academic All-Patriot League
Team for the first time. Academically, he has posted a 3.5 GPA as a
Business Administration major and is a 2011 Patriot League Academic
Honor Roll selection. The Loveland, Ohio native was also named to
the Dean's List in the spring of 2010.
On the field, Kuramoto has played a key role in the American
midfield, pacing the Eagles throughout the season. He has tallied
two goals on the year, scoring both against Howard, and has also
picked up three assists for seven points, setting career-highs in
all three categories.
American's two honorees on the Academic All-PL Team mark the
third straight year that the Eagles have led the conference in
selections. In the three-year history of the award, American has
eight total selections.
