Hauschild Named Defensive Player of the Week; AU Student-Athlete of the Week Presented by GEICO

American University men's soccer defender Stephen Hauschild was named the BRINE Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week, conference officials announced Monday. The sophomore was also recognized as the AU Student-Athlete of the Week Presented by GEICO, Department of Athletics officials announced.

Hauschild registered his first career goal with 24 seconds remaining in regulation of Saturday's regular season finale against Holy Cross, leading American to the 1-0 victory and its first undefeated conference season in program history. The Potomac, Md. native also helped to anchor the Eagles' defense as it posted its seventh shutout of the year, allowing just one shot on goal by the Crusaders on nine attempts.

Hauschild and the Eagles will look to return to the Patriot League Championship game for the fourth consecutive year when it hosts the 2012 Patriot League Tournament at Reeves Field this weekend. American won its second straight Regular Season title for the top spot and will face fourth-seeded Bucknell in the Semifinals on Friday, November 9 at 11 a.m.
