Sophomore right side Kristyna Lindovska was named the Molten
Patriot League Player of the Week, conference officials announced
Monday. She was also recognized as the AU Student-Athlete of the
Week Presented by GEICO by Department of Athletics officials.
Lindovska led the Eagles' attack in back-to-back matches
over the weekend, hitting at least .500 in both games. She opened
the weekend hitting .519 with a team-high 15 kills and only one
error to lead American to a 3-1 win over Colgate. The Ostrava,
Czech Republic native also registered a team-best seven blocks with
one service ace and three digs.
Lindovska then led the Eagles to a 3-0 sweep of Bucknell on
Saturday afternoon, tallying a team-high nine kills with one error
for a .500 hitting percentage. She also tallied three service aces,
three digs and one block in the match.
This is Lindovska's first weekly award of her career
Lindovska and the Eagles will look to defend their Patriot
League title when they head to Hamilton, N.Y. for the 2012 Patriot
League Tournament as the No. 2 seed. American will open the
tournament against No. 3 Army on Saturday, November 17 at 6
p.m.
