The American University volleyball team fell to Colgate, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon to close out the first half of Patriot League play. Juliana Crum led the Eagles with 13 kills, hitting .440 in the match.

Rebecca Heath added eight kills for the Eagles. Jessica Warner led the defensive effort with eight digs with Allison Cappellino and Crum each adding seven. Morgan Hendrix recorded seven blocks and Teodora Peric tallied a team-best 16 assists.

American (12-8, 4-3) remained within two points of the Raiders before they went on a 5-1 run to take a 11-7 lead on an ace by Lexi Finger. The Eagles registered seven straight tallies to take a 17-14 lead but Colgate came back to tie it at 18. After a two-point lead for the Raiders, American tied the set at 20 before Colgate was able to hold off an Eagles comeback to win it, 25-23.

Colgate (9-11, 7-0) took a 6-0 lead to open set two before American came back within four on the ace from Hendrix. But the Raiders were able to hold off the Eagles' attack, rolling to a 25-16 victory in the second set for the 2-0 match lead.

The third set featured 10 tied scores and three lead changes. American took the early advantage before Colgate was able to come back with a block from Liz Karnes giving the Raiders a 17-14 lead. The Eagles took a timeout and were able to tie the set at 19 and continued to stay within one point of Colgate. But the Raiders were able to finish the sweep with three consecutive points for the 28-26 win.

Lindsay Young led Colgate with nine kills as the Raiders outhit American, .227 to .096. Kaylee Fifer had a team-high 29 assists while Caitlin Cremin notched a team-best 10 digs.

American will return to Washington, D.C. to take on Howard in a non-conference match on Wednesday, October 17 at 5:30 p.m.
