Box Score Juliana Crum registered a double-double as the American University volleyball team earned a 3-0 win over George Mason Wednesday night in Fairfax, Va. The victory came by set scores of 25-23, 25-20, and 25-13.
Crum recorded team-bests with 11 kills and 12 digs along with a .364 hitting percentage as American (5-6) snapped its three-match losing streak. Morgan Hendrix also hit .500 with seven kills while Rebecca Heath and Sara Rishell each chipped in with nine kills. In addition to Crum's 12 digs, Heath, Megan Rosburg, and Monika Smidova tallied eight digs apiece.
This match marked the conclusion to the DC Volleyball Challenge, which was postponed on August 27 due to Hurricane Irene. The Eagles finished the round-robin tournament with a 2-1 record with victories over Georgetown and George Mason (3-6) with their loss coming to tournament champion George Washington. Additionally, Crum and Hendrix were both named to the DC Volleyball Challenge All-Tournament Team.
AU will be back in action this weekend with the American Volleyball Classic, which will take place at Bender Arena. The Eagles will host Villanova on Friday, September 16 at 7:00 p.m. before taking on Western Kentucky on Saturday, September 17 at 11:00 a.m. AU will close out the weekend against Missouri on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. All three matches will be available on Eagles Vision TV.
