"I was proud of the way we competed in the first half, I don't think we played very well but we certainly competed," said Head Coach Jeff Jones following the game. "We've got to be smart, we've got to be a lot tougher than we've played at times. There have been a few times this season where I've thought we've done exactly what we needed to do, but in order for us to be the kind of team that we'd like to be we've got to do those things all the time."

American shot 40.7 percent from the field and 62.5 percent from the line for the game, while the Hoyas shot 58.8 percent from the field and 75.0 percent from the foul line. Starks led Georgetown with 18 points and Otto Porter had a team-high 10 rebounds.

The Eagles will continue their road trip next Thursday, December 22 when they travel to Villanova. Tip is set for 7 p.m.
