The American University volleyball team will host Lehigh on
Friday at 7 p.m. and Lafayette on Saturday at 2 p.m. for its final
two conference matches of the regular season. The Eagles need to
win just one of the games this weekend to host the 2011 Patriot
League tournament and claim its tenth regular season title in 11
years.
American (19-10, 11-1 PL) enters the weekend after winning 14 of
its last 15 matches, including six straight. The Eagles last
recorded victories over Holy Cross, 3-0, and Army, 3-1, to continue
its 20-game Patriot League home winning streak.
In its first match on Friday, the Eagles held Holy Cross to a
-.102 hitting percentage, while hitting .413 as a team. Patriot

Rishell led the team with 13 kills and seven blocks,
as Heath recorded a double-double with 11 kills and 11 digs.
On Saturday, American returned to face Army for the top of the
Patriot League standings. Rebecca
Heath notched her second double-double of the weekend,
with 11 kills and 12 digs, while Juliana
Crum also earned a double-double for the Eagles with
13 kills and 15 digs.
American will first face Lehigh (18-8, 9-3 PL) on Friday,
November 11 at 7 p.m. The Mountain Hawks handed the team its only
Patriot League loss earlier this season in three sets, 25-22, 25-14
and 25-23. Lehigh is currently on a four-game winning streak, last
defeating Colgate, 3-2.
The Eagles will then host Lafayette (9-16, 2-10 PL) for Senior
Day on Saturday, November 12 at 2 p.m. In their last meeting,
American swept the Leopards in three sets, 25-16, 25-12 and
25-22.
Saturday will mark Senior Day for American' two senior
student-athletes - Alexandra
Hammer and Rebecca Heath. The senior class has
helped the Eagles to a 88-35 overall record in the last four years,
including a 49-5 record in Patriot League play. They have also
helped the Eagles to two Patriot League regular season and
tournament championships.
Both matches this weekend, like all regular season volleyball
matches, will be broadcast live on Eagles Vision
TV.
