Box Score The American University volleyball team earned a 3-0 win Thursday night at Navy to improve to 5-0 in Patriot League play. The triumph -- which came by set scores of 25-17, 25-21, and 25-19 -- also marked the Eagles' seventh straight victory as they moved to a season-best three matches over .500.
American (12-9, 5-0 PL) was paced by the duo of Juliana Crum and Rebecca Heath as each recorded 11 kills and only one attacking error. Crum recorded a .455 hitting percentage while Heath led the Eagles at .476 and also chipped in seven digs. Megan Rosburg registered a team-high 12 digs for American and Alexandra Hammer dished out 21 assists.
The Eagles hit .329 as a team and they were equally as effective defensively, holding Navy (6-14, 1-4 PL) to a .080 hitting percentage. The tone was set early as the Midshipmen hit -.059 in the opening set while AU recorded three consecutive .300-plus hitting periods.
AU will enjoy an eight-day layoff before resuming Patriot League competition next weekend. The Eagles will return to action on Friday, October 14 at Lehigh and then the following day at Lafayette.
