Box Score The American University men's soccer team dropped its first Patriot League match of the season with a 2-1 loss at Navy Saturday night in Annapolis, Md. Despite the setback, the Eagles remain in first place in the conference with 12 points, two points clear of their nearest competitors through five league matches.
Navy (5-7-3, 2-2-1 PL) set the tone early in the match with a pair of scores in the opening 9:03 to take the 2-0 lead. American (6-9-1, 4-1-0 PL) eventually cut its deficit in half with Tyler Collins' fifth goal of the season, which came in the 57th minute on a pass from Ryan Morales. The Eagles, however, were unable to find the equalizer down the stretch and came up on the short end of a 2-1 final.
American will head to Charlottesville, Va., for a non-conference matchup at Virginia on Tuesday, October 25 before returning home for a crucial Patriot League contest this Saturday, October 29 at 1 p.m. against Lehigh. The Mountain Hawks and Colgate currently sit in a second-place tie in the conference standings with 10 points each. Saturday's match against Lehigh will be available on Eagles Vision TV.
