Box Score The American University volleyball team won for the 10th time in its last 11 matches with a 3-1 victory at Colgate Friday evening in a Patriot League contest. The Eagles improved to 7-1 in conference play with the four-set win that came by scores of 25-23, 25-20, 19-25, and 25-20.
American (15-10, 7-1 PL) was led by
Juliana Crum's 17-kill, 11-dig performance. She hit an impressive .533 with only one attacking error while also recording three aces.
Rebecca Heath matched Crum with 17 kills and added nine digs.
Alexandria Miller and
Monika Smidova each registered double-digit digs with 10 while Smidova dished out a team-best 30 assists.
Bree Scarbrough, meanwhile, tallied a match-high four blocks.
The Eagles jumped out to a 2-0 lead after hitting .306 and .429 in the first two sets, respectively. Colgate (9-14, 5-3 PL), however, responded to take the third stanza before AU regained the momentum to win set number four and earn the match victory.
American will remain on the road for another Patriot League contest tomorrow, October 22 at Bucknell. First serve from Lewisburg, Pa., is slated for 4 p.m.
