Volleyball Sweeps Lafayette For Eighth Straight Win

The American University volleyball team rolled past Lafayette, 3-0, Friday evening in Easton, Pa. The victory -- which came by set scores of 25-16, 25-12, and 25-22 -- marked the Eagles' eighth win in a row as they improve to 6-0 in conference play.

For American (13-9, 6-0 PL), Rebecca Heath, Juliana Crum, and Morgan Hendrix each reached double-digit kills with 13, 11, and 10, respectively. Heath hit .632 on the evening with only one attacking error while Hendrix was at a .500 hitting clip. Alexandra Hammer, meanwhile, registered a team-high 32 assists. Defensively, Monika Smidova led AU with nine digs while Alexandria Miller and Megan Rosburg each tallied eight.

As a team, the Eagles hit .438 with 47 kills compared to only eight attacking errors. AU held Lafayette (7-11, 0-6 PL) to a .094 hitting percentage in the match, which included a -.045 mark in the opening set.

The Eagles will look for their ninth consecutive victory when they face Lehigh on Saturday, October 15. First serve from Bethlehem, Pa., is set for 4 p.m.
