Box Score The American University men's soccer team visited Alabama-Birmingham Wednesday evening in a non-conference matchup and came up on the short end of a 2-0 decision.
UAB (7-3-2) scored once in each half to earn the victory. Chris Williams registered the game-winner for the Blazers in the 32nd minute on a direct kick from 35 yards out that snuck just inside the post. UAB added its insurance goal in the 84th minute when Moses Adeniran fired a shot from 20 yards out that got by AU goalkeeper Billy Knutsen.
The Blazers outshot American (5-8-1) by a 12-5 margin in the match, which included a 4-2 margin in shots on goal. Seth Goldman and Jack Scott were credited with the Eagles' two shots on target. Knutsen, meanwhile, played all 90 minutes in goal for American and made two saves.
The Eagles will turn their attention back to Patriot League play this weekend when they host Lafayette in a showdown between the conference's top-two teams. AU currently sits in first place in the Patriot League at 3-0-0 while the Leopards have a 2-0-1 conference record.
