Volleyball Remains Perfect in Conference With Victory at Holy Cross

The American University volleyball team extended its winning streak to six as the Eagles defeated Holy Cross, 3-1, Saturday afternoon in Worcester, Mass. AU improves to 4-0 in the Patriot League as its win came by set scores of 25-21, 25-23, 25-27, and 25-17.

American (11-9, 4-0 PL) was led by Sara Rishell's huge afternoon that included 20 kills and a .679 hitting percentage. Kelly McCaddin was also productive on the attack with 14 kills while hitting .464. Juliana Crum, meanwhile, recorded her fourth straight double-double with 12 kills and 11 digs, and Megan Rosburg tallied a team-high 17 digs.  

For the first time in three matches, the Eagles took the opening set on the strength of a .464 team hitting percentage. After winning the second, Holy Cross (6-13, 2-2 PL) bounced back to take the third stanza. But AU responded to hit .500 in the fourth set and record the 3-1 victory.

The Eagles will look for their seventh win in a row when they travel to Annapolis, Md., to take on Navy next Thursday, October 6. First serve will take place at 7 p.m.
