After a scoreless opening half, American (4-6-1, 2-0-0 PL) fell behind in the 70th minute on an own goal. Facing a 1-0 deficit on the road, the Eagles quickly regrouped less than two minutes later when
Cristobal Soto fed a cross to
Seth Goldman, who knocked home his third goal of the season from 12 yards out.
AU found the game-winner in the 82nd minute on
Jack Scott's second strike of the season. On the play, Scott received a long pass from
Marco Dej as the Eagles had taken the 2-1 lead, which held up over the final eight-plus minutes.
American outshot Bucknell (5-5-0, 0-2-0 PL) by a 13-6 margin as the two-time defending Patriot League champion Bison have now dropped their opening two conference contests of the season. Additionally, the win for American marked its fourth-straight regular season victory over Bucknell.
The Eagles, who have now won three in a row, will visit Georgetown on Tuesday, October 4 at 7 p.m. for a non-conference matchup. AU will then host Army in a Patriot League contest on Saturday, October 8 at 1 p.m. in a match that will be broadcast live on
