Volleyball Finishes Regular Season 14-0 in the PL

The American University volleyball team capped off its regular season on Saturday with a 3-0 win at Lafayette, marking the sixth time in 10 seasons the Eagles have gone a perfect 14-0 in Patriot League play. The victory came by set scores f 25-14, 25-23, 25-9.

American (27-2, 14-0) was led by Magdalena Tekiel and Angelina Waterman who scored 12 kills and 10 kills, respectively. Bianca Richardson, Cassandra Ricketts and Juliana Crum each notched five. The Eagles combined to hit only .281 on the day despite recording a .381 hitting percentage in the first set and a .375 mark in the second.

American's defense limited Lafayette (5-23, 1-13) to a .115 hitting percentage as it recorded 40 digs and forced 13 errors. Deborah Frantz led the charge with a match high nine digs with Crum adding eight and Waterman six.

The victory improves American to 27-2 on the year and a perfect 14-0 in the Patriot League. American's 27 wins are the fifth most in program history while the Eagles' current 21-match win streak is tied for the second longest streak in school annals.

This is the sixth time in the last 10 years American has gone defeated against conference opponents in the regular season.

American clinched its ninth Patriot League Regular Season Championship last week and will now host the Patriot League Tournament next Saturday and Sunday, November 20-21, at Bender Arena. The top-seeded Eagles will first face fourth-seeded Bucknell on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. before Army and Colgate square off at 6:00 p.m. in a matchup of the second and third seeds. The winner of each match will then meet on Sunday at 4:00 p.m. with the conference title and an NCAA Tournament berth on the line.
