The American University women's soccer team fell to Robert
Morris University, 1-0, on Sunday afternoon in Moon Township, Pa.
Robert Morris (4-5) scored the lone goal of the match in the
33rd minute. Kathleen Caggiano took a free kick from 40 yards out,
putting the ball to the back post. Ayana Davis was there for the
Colonials to knock it past AU goalkeeper Arianna
Efstathiou.
American (4-6) and Robert Morris played a relatively-even 90
minutes in scattered rain showers, although the Eagles were unable
to muster a goal past Robert Morris keeper Jessica Olin. American
outshot the Colonials 14-12 in the match, and both teams fired
eight shots on goal.
Senior Kelsey
Brasher led the Eagles with a game-high five shots,
three of which were on goal. Freshman Michelle
Montilio recorded two shots on goal on three total
attempts.
Efstathiou recorded seven saves in goal for American, and
lowered her goals against average for the season to 1.10.
The Eagles will return to action at home this Wednesday,
September 30 at 4 p.m. versus Delaware State. The match will be
