Volleyball Goes on the Road to Defeat Colgate, 3-1

Box Score

The American University volleyball team defeated Colgate Friday night, 3-1, in Hamilton, N.Y., to keep its hopes of a ninth consecutive Patriot League Regular Season Championship alive. Claire Recht recorded a match-high 16 kills while Magdalena Tekiel notched her third triple-double with 13 kills and 13 digs.

American is now tied with the Raiders for second place in the Patriot League standings, one match behind Army. The Eagles need a win Saturday afternoon at Bucknell and an Army loss to claim the regular season title and earn the right to host the 2009 Patriot League Tournament next weekend. The Black Knights will host Lehigh on Saturday, which clinched a spot in the conference tournament this evening with a win at Holy Cross.
