Box Score

WASHINGTON - The American University volleyball team swept its season series with Bucknell Friday night, beating the Bison 3-0 on their home court. The victory improves American's record to 20-7 overall and 10-1 in the Patriot League while Bucknell falls to 11-15 overall and 4-7 in the conference.

Game scores in the match were 30-21, 30-16, 30-28. As a team the Eagles out-hit the Bison, .280 to .097, scoring 45 kills and committing only 12 errors. Bucknell on the other hand recorded just 34 kills and was forced into 23 errors.

American was led by junior Christina Nash. The setter tallied 32 assists in the winning effort with three kills and six digs. Julia Borecka had a team high nine kills, the first time this season she has led the team in the statistical category, and matched a career high with 13 digs. Cynammon Burns was just one dig shy of tying a career high set earlier this year with 13 and also aced the Bison twice. Ivana Cebakova and Claire Recht each notched eight kills and recorded hitting percentages of .304 and .500, respectively.

The Eagles will return to action tomorrow, Nov. 3, when they square off with Colgate at 2 p.m. The match pits the PL's top-two teams as both are 10-1 in the conference and tied atop the standings. The importance of the match goes beyond the conference leaderboard as the PL Tournament is just two weeks away and home-court advantage has yet to be decided.
