WASHINGTON - Raimondas Petrauskas (Mazeikiai, Lithuania/Lithuanian Physical Culture Academy) scored a career-high 24 points, leading the American University men's basketball team to a 60-46 win over Army Sunday at Bender Arena.
With the game tied at six a piece at the 13:28 mark of the first half, AU went on a 16-0 run to take a commanding 22-6 lead with 7:33 remaining in the opening stanza.
Army held the Eagles scoreless for nearly seven minutes, from 3:16 of the first half to 16:48 of the second period, and pulled back to within 10, 33-23. However, Andre Ingram (Richmond, Va./Highland Springs) hit one of his three treys on the day to extend the Eagles' lead to 13. Army came no closer than 12 the rest of the way. Ingram finished with 12 points.
Petrauskas hit seven-of-11 shots and grabbed seven boards, both game highs, and hit 10-of-13 from the charity stripe. Junior reserve guard Ryan Graham (St. John, New Brunswick/Brewster Academy [N.H.]) tallied a career-high five points on two-of-three shooting.
For the Black Knights, Travis Owsley hit five-of-11 shots and finished with 13 points.
American, which improves to 11-10 on the season and 5-2 in the Patriot League, returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 7, when it travels to Lewisburg, Pa., to square off with Bucknell.
