Final Stats

HAMILTON, N.Y. - Junior Ryan Boyd (Marietta, Ga./ Walton) scored at 28:33 and the American University men's soccer team held on to defeat Colgate University 1-0. The win lifts AU to a 8-4-2 record overall, and more importantly to a 4-0 record in the Patriot League.

Boyds' original shot was a cross but it was mishandled by goalie Josh Cohen, and it trickled in for the only goal of the game.

"Thomas Myers played great tonight as did our back four," said head coach Todd West. "We play Loyola next, but we are 4-0 in the Patriot League, and we will concentrate on our game with Bucknell next."

While they did not score, Gordon Templeman (Virginia Beach, Va. - First Colonial) and Shawn Kuykendall (Fairfax, Va. - Madison) played extremely well in the middle field for the Eagles.

Offensively, Sal Caccavale (West Islip, N.Y./ West Islip) led AU with five shots while Garth Juckem (Tampa, Fla./ Tampa Jesuit) notched three shots. American outshot Colgate 14-6 for the game.

Myers (Miami, Fla./ Gulliver Prep) netted three saves on six shots by Colgate.

American next plays Loyola on Oct. 20 at home. The game is set for 3 p.m.
