American Tops Lehigh By 10

Washington, DC – Despite 20 points from senior Matt Logie, Lehigh came up on the short end of a 69-59 score to American at Bender Arena on Saturday. With the loss Lehigh falls to 15-8 overall, 7-3 in the Patriot League, while the Eagles improve to 12-11 overall, 7-3 in the Patriot League. American's win over Lehigh pushed the two teams in a tie for second place in the Patriot League standings.

Lehigh trailed 30-17 at halftime and came out in the second half on fire. The Mountain Hawks outscored American 13-2 over the first three minutes of action; however, American came back with seven consecutive points, including five points in three seconds. Over the next eight minutes, Lehigh would only score eight points, dooming any chance for a second half comeback.     

For the game the Mountain Hawks shot 39.6% from the floor and were led in scoring by Logie, whose 20 points were a game high. Matt Crawford and Nick Monserez were the leading rebounders with eight each, as Lehigh pulled down 36 boards as a team. Zlatko Savovic dished a team high six assists as well for Lehigh.

The three-point basket was American's crutch and the Eagles leaned on it all afternoon, shooing 13-of-26 from three-point land, including a 4-of-7 output from Steven Miles, who managed a team high 19 points en route to the American victory. The Eagles managed 43.1% from the floor shooting and had four players in double figures, including Andres Rodriguez, who posted 17 points and 10 rebounds.
