Kari Washburn left American University at the end of May, 2024.
Kari Washburn joined the Athletic Training staff at American University in January, 2021, and was promoted to Associate Athletic Trainer in September, 2022. She is primarily responsible for working with the men's soccer, women's cross country and track & field, and cheerleading teams.
Washburn came to AU after three years at Point University in Georgia where she was primarily responsible for athletic training coverage for the men’s soccer, baseball, volleyball, and men’s & women’s golf teams.Â
She earned dual bachelor’s degrees in psychology and exercise and sports science from the University of North Carolina in 2016, and earned her master’s in kinesiology-motor behavior from Auburn University in 2018.Â
While completing requirements for her master’s, Washburn worked as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Auburn where she served as the primary athletic trainer for the women’s tennis and cheerleading teams, as well as providing athletic training services to Auburn summer camps.
Washburn has been a certified athletic trainer since 2016 and is an active member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association, the Southeastern Athletic Trainers' Association, and the Alabama Athletic Trainers' Association.Â
