After over seven years in AU Athletics as a full-time staff member, Jason Grimes left the University in April, 2025.

Jason Grimes, a 2017 graduate of American University, was named the Assistant Athletics Director for Business in October, 2022, after spending five years as a business assistant for Athletics. Grimes also serves as the sport administrator for wrestling. He was the interim wrestling coach for the shortened 2020-21 season, and earned the department's Stafford H. Cassell Award in the spring of 2022.

Grimes was a four-year wrestler for the Eagles and an NCAA qualifier at 184 pounds as a senior after finishing fifth at the EIWA Championships.

He finished his senior year 19-20 overall and 6-8 in duals. His 10 pins led the team and are tied for sixth on the Eagles' single-season list. He finished his career with 13 pins to rank 10th on the career list. Off the mat, Grimes was named Academic All-EIWA in 2016-17. In high school, Grimes was a two-time state champion for Holy Innocents' Episcopal School where he also played football and ran track.
