Biography

2024-25 (Senior): Did not wrestle due to injury. 

2023-24 (Junior) - Competed in five open tournaments, winning six matches... Went 2-2 at both the Averett Cougar Open and the George Mason Open... Posted a major-decision victory over NC State's Trevor Kantor at the Mason Open on Dec. 3.

2022-23 (Sophomore) - Earned his first dual win of the season against former Eagle Michael Leandrou at Hofstra on Dec. 22 with a 6-3 decision... Scored a major-decision victory at the Citadel Open in mid-November.

2021-22 (Freshman) - Went 2-2 at the Southeast Open on Nov. 7, his first action as a collegiate wrestler... Earned his first dual meet win vs. Matthew Dallara of Campbell on Jan. 16, 5-3 in sudden victory... Had two close losses the same day, a 6-2 defeat vs. #18 Johnny Lovett of CMU and a 3-1 sudden victory loss vs. Brock Rogers of CSU Bakersfield... Went 5-1 at the Reno Tournament of Champions including two major-decision victories, reaching the NCAA daily match limit before being able to finish out his run in the consolation bracket.

Before AU - Wrestled varsity all four years at Regis Jesuit High School in Aurora, Colo... Named All-State in 2019, 2020 and 2021... Three-time conference and regional champion... Three-time CHSAA 5A Colorado State Champion (145 lbs, 145 lbs, 152 lbs)... Was a Fargo Greco and Freestyle All-American... Placed fifth at Doc Buchanan Invitational, fifth at the 5 Counties meet and sixth at the NHSCA in 2018... Was an Elite 8 Dual Member... Cadet and Junior Duals first team member froom 2017-21... Two-time Greco Cadet and Junior Duals All-American... CHSAA 5A All Academic Wrestler in 2021... CHSAA 5A Coach's Pick Athlete of the Year in 2021... Three-time Academic All-State honoree in high school... President and Co-Founder of the RJHS FBLA chapter... Member of the National Honors Society... President of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA).

Personal - Majoring in political science and minoring in legal studies... Grandfather, Gary Segura, was a boxer in the USMC and in high school won the Golden Gloves for New Mexico... Sister, Alexis Segura, was a state runner-up for CO Girls Wrestling in 2021... Can speak Spanish and English, likes skateboarding, playing Video Games, keeping up with political news, watching anime, playing guitar, mechanic work and is a car enthusiast... Did service with dementia care patients as well as Food Bank of the Rockies...  Has officiated youth wrestling in Colorado and is a member of the P2P Wrestling League in Colorado.
