Novak begins her third full season as an assistant coach with American University women's soccer in 2014.
Hired in January of 2012, Novak benefited from an offseason with the team before her first season with the Eagles. In 2013, AU went 4-2-1 in the Patriot League and made a run to the conference semifinals. Las season the Ealges made it back-to-back trips to the league final four with a 0-0 penalty kick victory at Army.
“Megan has proven to be a tremendous asset both on and off the field over the past two years,” said head coach Anabel Jimenez Hering. “She’s established herself as a great leader, organizer and recruiter. Her work ethic is undeniable and she has built a strong relationship with our student-athletes. Megan will play a large part in continuing to build the program.”
Novak spent the previous fall as a volunteer assistant coach at Providence College, where she helped the Friars reach the BIG EAST quarterfinals. Prior to her stint with Providence she was a volunteer assistant coach at her alma mater, the University of North Carolina-Wilmington. Novak assisted with the organization of recruiting players, game editing, and offseason fitness sessions.
As a student-athlete, Novak was a four-year starting midfielder for the Seahawks and led them to their first Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance in 2009. She captained the team for two years and was twice an all-conference selection in the CAA. Nova was also selected to the NSCAA All-Mid-Atlantic Region Third Team in 2009. Novak was awarded the 2011 UNCW Chancellor’s Cup for overall academic and athletic excellence
Originally from College Park, Md., Novak played for the Bethesda Soccer Club and Good Counsel High School. She graduated from UNC-Wilmington in 2011 with a bachelor's degree in exercise science.
