Bonnin was promoted to assistant coach in November of 2013, after joining the Eagles as a volunteer assistant August 2013.
Bonnin comes to AU from the Maryland Olympic Development Program (ODP) staff as the 1997 boys assistant coach, as well a head coach for the Potomac Soccer Hotspur and Brit-Am Soccer Academy. He currently oversees the U-15 and U-8 girls programs.
“Josh is a local club coach who will bring a great dynamic to the program,” said head coach Anabel Jimenez. “He played collegiately at Virginia Tech and knows the demands of being a student-athlete. Josh is a student of the game of soccer and his knowledge and enjoyment shows in his coaching. His energy and enthusiasm will be a great addition to the staff.”
Bonnin has also served as an assistant coach on many premier level youth teams in the area. He is a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) and holds a USSF A license.
As a youth, Josh played soccer in the National Capital region for many prestigious clubs including Olney Soccer Club, Potomac Soccer Club, and Reston Soccer Club. During this time his teams won various competitions including NCSL Division 1, Potomac Memorial Day Tournament, Bethesda Thanksgiving Tournament, and competed for USYSA National Championships and SuperClubs National Championships. He was also three-year varsity starter for Sherwood High School.
Bonnin graduated from Virginia Tech in 2004 with his bachelors in Psychology.
