Student-Athlete of the Week presented by GEICO May 12, 2008

Junior Carlos Jamieson has been named the American University Student-Athlete of the Week presented by GEICO, Department of Athletics and Recreation officials announced Monday.

One week after setting a new Patriot League Championships Meet record of 3:43.24 in the 1500 meter run, Jamieson returned to the track at the Oregon Twilight Meet and set a new personal record time of 3:41.84 in the event to finish sixth overall. Jamieson's new PR remains as the third-fastest 1500 meter time in school history.

Jamieson will continue his season in three weeks at the NCAA East Regional Meet. Jamieson has met the regional qualifying standards in both the 1500 and 5000 meter runs and will be joined by teammates Brendan Fennell and Steve Hallinan at the national qualifier.

This marks the third week that Jamieson has been named the AU Student-Athlete of the Week presented by GEICO. Jamieson also took home the honor last week after winning the 1500 and being a part of the winning 4x800 meter relay team at the Patriot League Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
