Student-Athletes of the Year presented by GEICO April 28, 2008

Seniors Josh Glenn and Denise Infante have been named the American University Student-Athletes of the Year presented by GEICO, Department of Athletics and Recreation officials announced Monday. Glenn and Infante each earned All-America status during their respective seasons and were awarded the honor by a vote of AU's head coaches.

Glenn finished his senior year with an overall record of 19-2 and a an 8-0 mark in dual meets. In December Glenn became AU's first Midlands Champion winning the 197 lbs. division and in early March he won his third consecutive EIWA Championship. Glenn finished his career by taking fifth at the NCAA Championships later that same month, earning All-America status for a program record third consecutive year. Glenn's career record of 110-14 is second all-time at AU and in 2007 he became AU's first NCAA Div. I National Champion. Glenn's excellence also extendeds beyond the mat as he was recently honored as the recipient of the Stafford H. Cassell Award, given annually to the senior who best exemplifies the traits of Mr. Cassell-total, selfless dedication to the university, profound energy, and reliability as well as intellectual curiosity, friendliness, and helpfulness. Glenn is scheduled to graduate in May with a double-major in international studies and law & society.

Infante helped her team to its fifth-consecutive Patriot League Championship this fall and was rewarded for her play by garnering First Team All-America honors for the first time, being named the PL Defensive Player of the Year for a second straight year and the PL Tournament MVP for the third-consecutive year. Infante was also named First Team All-Region for the third time in as many years and to her fourth straight All-PL Team. Infante currently ranks sixth all-time at AU in scoring with 100 career points, seventh in career goals with 35 and sixth in career assists with 30 and was also a 2006 Second Team All-America selection. Infante is also a member of the Chilean National Field Hockey Team and was recently recognized for her abilities on the field and in the classroom with the Office of International Student Services - Multicultural Affairs Scholar-Athlete Award. Infante is scheduled to graduate in May with a degree in health promotion.
