Wrestling's Josh Glenn has been named the American University
Student-Athlete of the Week presented by GEICO one day after
winning his third-consecutive Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling
Association Championship, Department of Athletics and Recreation
officials announced Monday.
Glenn won his third straight EIWA title Sunday evening with a

single-leg takedown and rode out the remainder of the frame. He
began the third period down and quickly escaped to move his
advantage to 5-0 and shortly after that took Brown down again for a
7-0 lead. Glenn cut Brown with under one minute remaining and off a
restart with nine seconds on the clock scored his fourth takedown
of the match. With riding time advantage Glenn took the bout by
major decision, 10-1..
Glenn advanced to the tournament finals with a first period fall
over Penn's Thomas Shovlin in the semifinals Sunday morning. On
Saturday, Glenn defeated Navy's Matthew Parsons by major decision,
15-2, after receiving a first-round bye..

having also won the 197 lbs. title in 2007 and the 184 lbs. crown
in 2006. As a freshman in 2005, Glenn took second at 184. For his
outstanding career performance at the EIWA Tournament, Glenn was
presented the Fletcher Award Sunday night. The Fletcher Award is
given annually to the senior wrestler who has scored the most team
points at the tournament in his career.
Glenn's championship also helped the Eagles to a program best
sixth-place finish in the team standings. AU ended the weekend with
62.5 points while Cornell topped the standings with 128 points. AU
also placed sixth at last year's tournament and the 2006
tournament.

automatically qualified for the NCAA's by placing in the top four
of his weight class. Glenn is also now AU's only four-time NCAA
