Student-Athlete of the Week presented by GEICO Feb. 11, 2008

Junior guard Garrison Carr has been named the American University Student-Athlete of the Week presented by GEICO for the week ending Feb. 10, 2008, AU Athletics officials announced Monday. This is his third GEICO SAOW award this season.

Carr helped the Eagles to a 2-0 week, with wins over Holy Cross and Lehigh, by scoring 22.0 points per game and shooting 58.6 (17-of-29) percent from the field and 45 (nine-of-20) percent from three-point range. Carr played every minute of the two games and has played all 40 minutes in three straight games.

His nine three-pointers in the two games gave him 98 on the season, breaking the AU single-season record for three-pointers and closing within one of the Patriot League single-season record of 99 set by Mark Lueking in the 1995-96 season.

Meanwhile, Carr led the Eagles with 7.0 rebounds per game, including tying his career-high with eight rebounds in the win over Lehigh. The Bellevue, Wash., native is ranked fifth in the nation in three-pointers per game, with 4.1 treys.

Carr this week was also named the Patriot League Player of the Week for the second time this year.
