The American University women’s track 4x800 meter relay
team of seniors Julia Sullivan and Ali Tyburski, sophomore Kelseagh Budris and freshman Corina Velazco has been honored as the
AU Student-Athletes of the Week Presented by GEICO, Department of
Athletics officials announced Monday.
The team competed at the 120th Penn Relays on Saturday and
posted the fourth-fastest time in program history in the event,
finishing 14th overall with a mark of 9:12.69. They also eclipsed
the ECAC standard by nearly four seconds, marking the first ECAC
qualifying time of the outdoor season for the women’s team
and the second overall for the Eagles.
Budris, Sullivan, Tyburski, Velazco and the American track team
head to Annapolis, Md. this weekend for the 2014 Patriot League
Outdoor Championships.
