American University women’s basketball junior Jen
Dumiak has been named the AU Student-Athlete of the
Week Presented by GEICO, Department of Athletics officials
announced Tuesday.
Dumiak extended her streak of double-digit scoring to six
straight games in a 2-0 week for the Eagles. The Carlsbad, Calif.
native led American with 18 points in its win over Loyola (Md.) on
Wednesday night, going 7-of-11 from the floor and 2-of-4 from
3-point range. She also added a team-best five assists and two
rebounds in the win. Dumiak then followed up the performance with a
16-point effort at Colgate on Saturday afternoon. She shot 50
percent from the floor and went a perfect 5-for-5 from the foul
line, adding five assists and three rebounds.
The junior ranks second on the team and 17th in the Patriot
League with 10.6 points per game this season on 42.3 percent
shooting from the floor. She is also eighth in the conference with
4.1 assists per game and fourth with a 2.0 assist/turnover ratio.
Dumiak ranks eighth all-time at American with a .779 career free
throw percentage and is shooting 75.0 percent from the line this
year.
Dumiak and the Eagles return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 12 at
6 p.m. when they travel to Lehigh.
